The Good Old Boy

Its probably not the best idea to start a food blog with a Burger, but then again, this is a place for easy cooking. I will be putting the fancier recipes down too, but the Chilly Garlic Prawns, Sauteed in butter will have to wait.

At the Sundaram residence, a good meal comprises of three things, Togetherness, Drunkenness and Meatiness. Together they form the cornerstone to a happy family. It was during one these "togetherness" sessions, where this burger came to life.

The Good Old Boy is the kind of burger that will tell you, “Look here, I might not kill you, but I’ll make sure you can’t move an inch once you're done with me.” It’s what an epic meal is made off, large enough to make the handling tricky and tasty enough to make you wish you had more space in your stomach.

What's in it:

1 – Toasted Bun (Serves one - obviously)
Garnish of Onions and Tomatoes
Either:
  • A Relish mix, of Ketchup, Mustard, Chopped Onions & Chopped Jalapenos. (Optional extras or options are Pickles, Capsicums, Tomatoes, Olives and Lettuce.) (or)
  • A Sauce – Mix of Minced Beef, Tomato Puree, Finely Chopped Onions, Parsley, Garlic, Paprika, Salt and Pepper to taste.

1 – Slice of Ham (or) Bacon
1 – Cheese Slice, either Processed Cheddar and or Mozzarella
150 to 200gms – Freshly Minced Beef salt and pepper to taste – Mix the ingredients together and roll out one flat patty, 1.5cms thick, and about 12cms wide. The patty shrinks and thickens when you cook it, so make sure its thin and wider than the bun.
Either:
  • Fresh plain Iceberg Lettuce (or)
  • Mix of sliced Lettuce and Mayonnaise
